Technology Development Fund

Defense Research & Development Organization, Ministry of Defence, Government of India

Technology Development Fund (TDF) is a programme of the Ministry of Defence, executed by DRDO, meeting the requirements of Tri-Services, Defence Production, and D.R.D.O.

While this may be of particular interest to STEM majors, the Education Team at the Embassy of India, Washington D.C., encourages all interested Indian students and citizens to contribute if eligible. Eligibility and evaluation is at the sole discretion of the D.R.D.O.

The Scheme

Citizens who have incubated or created technologies that may be of use to the D.R.D.O. and meet requirements as stipulated on the Technology Development Fund website may submit their entries directly to the D.R.D.O. The scheme encourages participation of public/private industries, especially MSMEs, to create an ecosystem for enhancing cutting edge technology capability for defence application. "The focus of this is on the development of technologies that will form the kernel of components/assemblies, which will be in turn be used to develop defence equipment/ systems/sub-systems/ platforms."

Information on current and upcoming projects is on the 'projects' page of the TDF website. Past projects include:

  • Fuel Cells
