The Embassy of India Student Hub is an Embassy of India (Washington D.C.) Education Team initiative to engage Indian students studying in the United States in India’s development. The Student Hub is a platform for students to connect, collaborate, and converse -- both with each other, and as well as with the Embassy of India, Washington D.C. The Student Hub thrives on student-led, student-run programming and opportunities to develop leadership among students. The hope is to nurture (a) personal, societal and civic responsibility, (b) an entrepreneurial mindset, and (c) principled next generation leadership for India and the world.
As an innovative, dynamic, relatively independent youth team seeking to help India build substantive bridges via education, the Embassy Education Team strives to facilitate conversations with Indian students as well as U.S. universities and administrators. We hope to strengthen knowledge partnership between India and the United States, to seed robust cross-border research and academic collaborations, and to rally improvements to the educational eco-systems in both countries.

The Spring 2021 Volunteer Program has 3 verticals, as listed below:
India in the US - Trends in News & Media: With the growing stature of India in the world, the world’s focus on India has increased. A civilization as old as India is often not understood or misinterpreted, especially by western societies. A seminar style program for students is to generate curiosity among them, and help them understand and explore India beyond the media depiction. The goal would be to expand the lens from which we approach India and what it looks like to be part of her development. Each of the students will be asked to create a project - either a blogpost, an interview, a graphic, artwork, etc to provide deeper understanding of India to their peers.
The Embassy of India Student Hub is looking for ambitious and committed young people passionate about India’s development and are willing to work in a start-up like environment for 10-12 hours a week. If you're the right person for this opportunity, you are inquisitive, open-minded, and good writers/artists.
Climate & You - Climate Action Program: Despite considerable evidence that climate change is occurring and will have severe consequences, many individuals remain skeptical of the phenomenon’s existence and are impeding efforts to address the problem. As India plays a crucial role in changing the tide on climate change, this vertical hopes to engage the young volunteers at three levels: individual’s responsibility, India’s domestic efforts, and India’s leadership in multilateral efforts. The aim of the Climate Action Program is to communicate how the climate crisis impacts people and their communities. Over the course of this 8-week program, volunteers will gain a deeper understanding of climate change and its impacts, learn to critically assess Indian and U.S. policy efforts to address the problem, and engage in activities to decrease your environmental footprint.
