SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
India is at its peak in research advancement, grants, investments, and undergoing linear progression in terms of innovation. In today’s emerging world, Indian science is poised to play a pivotal role in the advancement of science & technology.
As part of the summer program, this vertical worked towards spreading awareness about the cutting-edge advancements of STEM fields in India. A few learnings of the team includes:
Insights into new research perspectives among the Indian scientific community.
Exposure to upcoming topics of research interest in India.
Understanding R&D skills that an aspiring scientists should acquire.
To understand India's scientific ecosystem and to learn about opportunities for Ph.D and post doc, watch the interviews with Dr. Ambarish Ghosh and Dr. Yamuna Krishnan.
Watch the interview with Dr. Ambarish Ghosh
Dr. Ambarish Ghosh is currently the Ramakrishna Rao Chair Professor at IISc Bangalore.
He graduated with a five-year integrated degree, MSc in Physics, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He completed his Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University in USA, after which he was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. In 2009, he joined the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Dr. Ghosh's research interests include the study of quantum fluids, plasmonics, driven colloidal systems, and their applications in biotechnology. Dr. Ghosh received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award for Physics in 2018.
Watch the interview with Dr. Yamuna Krishnan
Dr. Yamuna Krishnan who is currently a Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Chicago.
She is a recipient of several prestigious awards such as the Indian National Science Academy Young Scientist Medal in 2007, Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award from the Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, in 2006, and the Infosys Prize 2017 in the Physical Sciences category. She is also the youngest woman recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for science and technology, the highest science award in India, which she won in the year 2013 in the Chemical Science category.
Her current research interests are in the areas related to the structure and dynamics of nucleic acids, nucleic acid nanotechnology, cellular and subcellular technologies. Their lab has also created a highly versatile functional imaging platform.
